Wet roadway conditions might have been a factor in a recent Florida vehicular collision that has left a family and community in mourning. An investigation remains ongoing in the case. Two vehicle passengers suffered personal injury in the tragic crash.
The tragedy occurred on a recent Wednesday afternoon in Brevard County. Current reports indicate that there was a rainstorm that day and that roads were most likely slippery at the time the accident took place. A 51-year-old woman was heading in a northbound direction when her vehicle is said to have slid on the road.
In the other lane, another vehicle was traveling southward. The woman’s vehicle crashed into the southbound vehicle. Sadly, the two-vehicle accident resulted in the death of a 19-year-old college freshman who was enjoying a break from her academics. Three other young adults who were traveling with the student, two of whom had recently graduated from college, suffered serious injuries and were transported to an area medical center for emergency treatment.
No charges have yet been filed in this case. In similar collisions in Florida, if a motorist’s negligence or wrongful actions have led to the personal injury or death of another, the injured party or the family of the deceased might choose to file a legal claim in a civil court in order to seek compensation for damages. Those who survive serious injuries are sometimes faced with mounting medical bills from ongoing care and treatment needed to achieve a full recovery. When a court awards compensation, it can be used to help alleviate some of those financial burdens.
