Speed causes Miami car accident, injures 7 people

A speeding driver recently caused an accident in the Miami neighborhood of Little Haiti, causing injuries to seven people. The man who caused the accident attempted to leave the accident scene, but he was caught and arrested by Miami police.

Altogether, three men were arrested due to their involvement in the car accident, which happened on March 12. The men, inside a Chevy Impala sedan, hit a woman driving a Nissan Armada SUV. Seven people were injured in the crash, including the driver of the SUV and its passengers. One passenger was a young girl. It is unknown if any of the occupants of the sedan suffered personal injury.

Fire crews had to extricate the front seat passenger of the Nissan. Of those injured, five were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital and the other two were taken to Ryder Trauma Center. Crews investigated the accident scene and performed a crash reconstruction. Details were not released as to whether or not the driver of the SUV contributed to the accident.

Some motorists underestimate the damage that speeding can cause. The faster a person drives, the longer it takes to stop to avoid a crash. On top of that, the driver tried to flee the scene instead of offering aid, which is highly irresponsible and illegal.

A crash can cause financial hardship to those involved. The car accident victims have the right to file a personal injury lawsuit against the driver of the sedan, since he will likely be held liable. Those injured by the driver’s negligence may be able to receive compensation for damages such as medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering.
