Fiery 4-vehicle car accident injures 4 drivers

One person’s negligence — failing to stop in time — recently caused four vehicles to crash, with the drivers suffering serious injuries. The Florida car crash was so severe that it caused the vehicles to catch fire.

The car accident occurred on the morning of Feb. 17 at an intersection bordering Deerfield Beach and Pompano Beach. Witnesses saw a cloud of smoke with occupants running away from their vehicles. One woman, who was unconscious, was pulled out of her car by a witness. She suffered serious burns.

Four people were injured and hospitalized following the wreck, which occurred when a woman failed to slow down and smashed into the back of a pickup truck. Her car ended up underneath the truck and the truck’s gas tank came off, causing the fire. Two other vehicles were involved in the crash. The road was closed for several hours so that crews could investigate the scene and clear the wreckage.

The woman who rear-ended the truck may be held liable for the accident because her failure to reduce speed likely caused the fiery accident. When others are injured by a negligent driver, they have the legal right to seek compensation. The victims of this accident were all hospitalized, so there will be medical bills to pay. The victims may have had to take time off work in order to be treated for and heal from their injuries, so they could receive compensation for lost wages as well. There are other claims injured drivers could make against the at-fault driver, as well, including pain and suffering, emotional distress and loss of consort.

Understanding one’s legal rights after his or her involvement in a car accident is the first step towards seeking compensation. An experienced Florida personal injury attorney can provide valuable advice during this difficult time.
