A recent high-speed chase led to a car crash in downtown Miami. A police officer was attempting to catch the speeding driver when he collided with another vehicle. Two people – including the police officer – were injured in the accident.
The car accident occurred on the afternoon of Dec. 27. One police officer was in hot pursuit of a vehicle that had may have been involved in an armed robbery. Another police officer heard the call and went to help, but he crashed into another car on the way.
It is still unknown how the accident occurred and which vehicle caused it. Witnesses saw a white car on 12th Avenue and the police car on NW 29th Street. One witness believes that the driver of the white sedan was speeding and crashed into the police car.
The police car spun around due to the impact of the crash. Both the police officer and the sedan’s driver were injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment. Both victims are in stable condition. Police never caught the car they were pursuing.
Speed can cause serious car accidents. In a high-speed chase, innocent motorists can get seriously injured. Those who were in the vicinity at the time of the chase are fortunate that they did not get hurt.
If the driver of the white sedan is held liable for the accident, then the police officer can sue for damages. A personal injury lawsuit can help a victim recover compensation for medical expenses, lost wages and even emotional damages such as pain and suffering.
