Miami dump truck accident injures family of 4

Instead of celebrating the Christmas season with relatives, a family of four spent the holidays in the hospital after a dump truck rolled over on their vehicle. The Florida residents were on their way to visit family for Christmas when they were involved in a dump truck accident on the evening of Dec. 23.

The dump truck was on Krome Avenue in Miami when a car in font of it suddenly stopped. The dump truck driver could not stop in time and instead of rear-ending the vehicle, he swerved and went into oncoming traffic. The dump truck driver’s actions caused him to hit the family’s car head-on. The impact from the crash caused both vehicles to roll over.

The parents were in the front and the two children were sitting in the back seat when the accident occurred. Only one victim – a 5-year-old girl – suffered broken bones. Her hand was broken. The car’s air bags deployed, avoiding severe damaged. The victims are hospitalized and expected to be fine.

The dump truck driver was remorseful of his actions and gave the family his sympathies, especially since the accident occurred just before the holidays. He will likely be cited for swerving into traffic.

Truck accidents can lead to serious injuries and even death. The family is fortunate to survive the accident, but should still look to preserve their legal rights. Even though the driver already received a citation, the family can file a civil suit against the man to recover compensation for the medical bills they will face to pay for the treatment of their injuries.
